Welcome to the Language Education Teaching Interest Group – or as we like to call it, the TIG where grammar gets glamorous, words become essential and different accents are always appreciated! 🎉
We are a lively group of language lovers, educators, and researchers from across Europe (and sometimes beyond!) who believe that teaching languages is more than just verb conjugations and grammar structures. Language is also about connecting cultures, sparking curiosity, and occasionally laughing at our own mistakes.
Whether you are passionate about plurilingualism, digital tools in language classrooms, intercultural communication, or just trying to figure out why and how languages are taught and learned, our group is a space to share, learn, collaborate, and support one another in this wonderful multilingual journey.
Each year at the ETEN spring symposium, we come together to swap stories about languages, share research, run workshops, and maybe even sneak into student exchanges virtual or real (multilingual, of course!). Our sessions are full of energy, insights, thoughts and the occasional jokes – because who said language education had to be serious all the time?
If you’re into teaching languages, learning languages, or simply love the beautiful chaos of multilingual classrooms, come and join us! Your language is welcome, your ideas are valued, and your coffee is probably going to be cold – just like the rest of ours during the spring symposium, after our long discussions ☕😉And maybe you will also find opportunities for collaboration in different projects across countries.
Let us keep the conversation going – every teacher a language teacher!!
